More About These Handmade Ceramic Bowls
These handmade tapas bowls are wheel-thrown in my Sussex pottery studio using durable stoneware clay, then finished by hand in my signature Sea Smoothed Pebble glazes. They are different from my small and medium bowls because they have a flatter inside base, designed especially for serving tapas-style food beautifully.
That flatter shape makes them ideal for mezze, antipasti, olives, dips, aioli, hummus, guacamole, salsa, nuts, roasted vegetables and little Mediterranean-inspired side dishes. They are the sort of bowls that come into their own when food is placed in the middle of the table and everyone helps themselves.
I love using pieces like this for relaxed entertaining — garden lunches, BBQs, summer parties, alfresco suppers, Spanish-style tapas nights, Italian antipasti boards and those easy evenings when friends gather around good food. They are informal, useful and full of the quiet charm that comes from handmade pottery.
Each bowl has small natural variations from the throwing, glazing and firing process, so no two are exactly alike. The base is burnished smooth by hand too, an extra step that gives the bowl a lovely grounded feel and helps it sit gently on tables and worktops.
Whether you are building a colourful table of sharing dishes or looking for a thoughtful handmade gift for someone who loves food, these stoneware tapas bowls are made for the kind of meals that feel generous, sociable and full of pleasure.
If you’re building a table of sharing dishes, these tapas bowls work beautifully alongside small plates for breads, cheese, crackers and little bites. For other bowl sizes, you can browse my small bowls for snacks and dips, or explore all handmade bowls if you’re comparing the full range.
