More About These Handmade Stoneware Mugs
These handmade mugs are wheel-thrown in my Sussex pottery studio using durable stoneware clay, then finished in my signature Sea Smoothed Pebble glazes. Each one is individually shaped by hand, so small variations in form, glaze and finish are part of what gives them their character.
I’ve made these to be the mugs you genuinely look forward to using — comfortable in the hand, generous enough for everyday drinks, and full of handmade character. They work beautifully for morning coffee, breakfast tea, herbal tea, hot chocolate, chai, lattes and those quiet drinks that help break up the day.
The handle was one of the details I spent the most time refining. I have plenty of earlier versions in my cupboard, but it was worth it: the final handle cross-section feels comfortable, balanced and easy to hold, without losing the friendly handmade feel of the mug.
This collection includes two-tone mugs with a white lower section, and two-tone mugs with a sandy satin-matte base. The white-based mugs feel fresh and classic, while the sand-based mugs have a warmer, more earthy character. Both styles are made to feel personal in daily use — a useful piece of studio pottery that brings a little more warmth to the table.
They also make thoughtful handmade gifts for coffee lovers, tea drinkers, new homes or anyone who enjoys well-made pottery with real everyday purpose.
If you’re looking for more specific coffee moments, you might also like my cappuccino cups for flat whites or espresso cups for short, strong coffees. These mugs also sit beautifully with small plates for tea, biscuits and quiet afternoon breaks. You can also browse the full cups and mugs collection if you’re comparing styles.
