Handmade Small Ceramic Plates

Handmade ceramic small plates, wheel-thrown in my Sussex studio for cake, biscuits, cream teas, cut fruit and little side dishes. Finished with a hand-rolled dotty rim, these are the plates we reach for when a small bite deserves a good home.

More About These Handmade Small Plates

These small handmade plates are wheel-thrown in my Sussex pottery studio using durable stoneware clay, then finished by hand in my signature Sea Smoothed Pebble glazes. At around 16cm across, they are smaller than a lunch plate, but just right for the little food moments that happen throughout the day.

We use plates this size all the time at home — for cake, biscuits, cream teas, cut-up fruit, cheese and crackers, small side dishes, desserts and little snacks with a warm drink.

The dotty rim is applied with a hand-roller, giving each plate a gently textured edge and a lovely handmade feel. It is a small detail that gives them a friendly feel.

These small plates are lovely for cake, biscuits and little treats, so they sit naturally alongside handmade mugs, cappuccino cups and espresso cups for coffee-and-cake moments. You can also browse the wider handmade tableware collection if you’re building a set.

These smaller pieces also sit in my small pottery gifts under £20 collection if you’re looking for useful handmade gift ideas.
