More About These Handmade Ceramic Cups & Mugs
Every piece in this drinkware collection is wheel-thrown in my Sussex pottery studio using durable stoneware clay, then finished by hand in glazes I’ve developed carefully over time. From everyday mugs to café-style cappuccino cups and small espresso cups, each piece is made to bring a little more character to the drinks you enjoy most.
I care a lot about how my pottery looks and feels in daily use. The handle shape, the balance in the hand, the glaze surface and the base all matter. My Sea Smoothed Pebble glaze took many months to develop, and I love the natural, quietly varied quality it brings to each piece. All my pieces have a smooth burnished base too. It’s an extra step, but it makes them feel lovely in the hand and helps reduce the risk of marking the surfaces they rest on.
The joy of handmade ceramic cups and mugs is that they feel personal. Each mug or cup carries small natural variations from the throwing, glazing and firing process, so no two pieces are ever completely identical. That is part of what makes handmade pottery feel special — each piece has been individually made, considered and finished with care.
This collection includes handmade mugs for coffee, tea and hot chocolate, cappuccino cups for flat whites and weekend coffee rituals, and espresso cups for short, strong coffees or after-dinner moments. Whether you are choosing something for yourself or looking for a thoughtful handmade gift, these are pieces I hope you’ll enjoy reaching for again and again.
