More About These Handmade Ceramic Bowls
These handmade ceramic bowls are wheel-thrown in my Sussex pottery studio using durable stoneware clay, then finished by hand in my signature Sea Smoothed Pebble glazes. Each one is individually shaped, glazed and fired, so small natural variations in form, colour and surface detail are part of what gives them their character.
This collection brings together my small bowls, medium bowls and tapas bowls, each designed with a slightly different kind of use in mind. The small bowls are perfect for snacks, olives, nuts, dips, berries, yoghurt and little desserts. The medium bowls are made for cereal, soup, porridge, noodles, rice bowls, pasta and everyday meals. The flatter tapas bowls are designed for sharing food — mezze, antipasti, hummus, guacamole, aioli, olives, BBQ sides and alfresco nibbles with friends.
I think handmade bowls make everyday food feel a little more cared for. They are not just useful objects; they bring warmth, texture and personality to the table. A bowl of soup, a quick breakfast, a handful of pistachios or a table of tapas all feel that bit more enjoyable when served in something made by hand.
I care a lot about how my pottery feels in use. The rounded forms, smooth glaze surfaces, weight in the hand and burnished bases all matter. The burnished smooth clay base is an extra step, but it gives each bowl a grounded handmade feel and helps it sit gently on tables, worktops and shelves.
Whether you are choosing bowls for cereal, soup, snacks, tapas or a thoughtful handmade gift, this collection is made for real homes and real food — pieces to use often, enjoy daily and bring out when people gather around the table.
